Pertamina ONWJ's New Well Produces 2,635 Barrels of Oil in a Remarkable Achievement

Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) reported extraordinary success, after the LLE-5ST well drilling operation in the Lima Field, located in the offshore area of ​​Karawang Regency, was able to produce up to 2,635 barrels per day (BOPD) in the first production test.

PHE ONWJ General Manager Muzwir Wiratama said the main drilling target is the LL-30 rock layer, which consists of sandstone from the Main Formation and is an oil development in the southern area of ​​the Lima Field.

This development follows a seismic data reprocessing study using the Pre-Stack Depth Migration (PSDM) technique. The results showed that this layer contained significant amounts of oil. This success opens up significant potential for further development in the southern area of ​​the Lima Field.

The LLE-5ST well drilling is the result of re-drilling (sidetrack) of the old well (LLE-5) which has been inactive since 2012 using directional drilling techniques to reach underground rock layers that still have the potential to produce oil, even though the location is in an area that has not been widely exploited before. The drilling is made curved like the letter "J", which allows it to reach underground reservoirs far from the initial drilling point.

PHE ONWJ also achieved other successes in this production test. Among them, the drilling process took 37 days, significantly shorter than the target of 46.2 days. Furthermore, the project was successfully completed ahead of the initial plan of 2026.

With the successful drilling of the LLE-5ST well, PHE ONWJ has not only succeeded in increasing the reserve potential of the Lima Field, but also confirmed the Company's success in pursuing higher production targets, with innovative techniques and faster execution.
