Pertamina EP Taps New Productive Reservoir Layer in Mature Adera Field

Pertamina EP, operating under Pertamina Subholding Upstream Regional 1 Zone 4 (PHR Zone 4), has completed the BNG-082 development well within the Benuang Structure of South Sumatra. Drilled at an existing well pad, the operation successfully accessed the previously untapped TAF-P2a productive formation, which had not been produced by neighboring wells.

Drilling Performance and Flow Test Results
Drilling operations on the BNG-082 well concluded incident-free in 32 days, ahead of the planned 36.6-day schedule. During initial open-flow testing conducted on August 16, 2026—evaluating natural flow without wellhead choke restrictions—the well demonstrated production potential of:
  • Crude Oil: 302.4 barrels of oil per day (BOPD).
  • Natural Gas: 5.597 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).
This additional hydrocarbon yield supports the Adera Field's 2026 Work Program & Budget (WP&B) production targets, set at 4,537 BOPD of oil and 22.21 MMSCFD of natural gas.

Subsurface Data Integration and Zoning Modeling
The drilling location and reservoir targeting were driven by an integrated subsurface evaluation framework. The technical team utilized geological modeling alongside multi-attribute seismic interpretation and Modular Formation Dynamics Tester-Live Fluid Analysis (MDT-LFA) to assess formation pressure, fluid composition, and reservoir compartmentalization.

In parallel, engineers deployed the Sectorization Zoning Model method, integrating and stacking Hydrocarbon Pore Volume (HCPV) maps across multiple horizons to optimize well trajectory, minimize subsurface risk, and enhance drainage efficiency in mature acreage.

Benuang Structure Development Innovations
The BNG-082 well follows earlier completion techniques implemented across the Benuang Structure. In June 2026, Pertamina EP deployed a dual-string completion configuration on the BNG-080 well to enable simultaneous production from two separate reservoir intervals:
  • TAF-L1 Layer: Flow-tested at 2.836 MMSCFD of natural gas.
  • TAF-N2 Layer: Flow-tested at 572.8 BOPD of crude oil and 1.666 MMSCFD of natural gas.
PHR Zone 4 manages seven operational areas across South Sumatra—including the Prabumulih, Limau, Adera, Pendopo, and Ramba fields under Pertamina EP, as well as the Ogan Komering and Raja Tempirai concessions under PHE—under the regulatory supervision of SKK Migas Sumbagsel.
