Saipem Secures Offshore EPCI Work in Saudi Arabia

Saipem has been awarded two offshore Contract Release Purchase Orders (CRPOs) in Saudi Arabia under its existing Long-Term Agreement with Saudi Aramco, strengthening its ongoing role in offshore engineering, construction, and installation activities in the Kingdom.

Scope of the awarded contracts
The first award, CRPO 162, has a duration of 32 months and covers the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) of approximately 34 kilometers of offshore pipelines with diameters of 20 inches and 30 inches. The scope also includes associated works on topside structures at the Berri and Abu Safah oil fields.

The second award, CRPO 165, will be executed over 12 months and involves subsea intervention activities at the Marjan field. In addition, this contract includes the engineering, procurement, and construction of around 300 meters of onshore pipeline, together with related tie-in activities.

Execution strategy and assets
Offshore installation activities for both contracts will be carried out using Saipem’s construction vessels currently operating in the region. This approach enables continuity of operations and efficient utilization of existing marine assets already mobilized in Saudi waters.

Fabrication activities associated with the projects will be executed at Saipem Taqa Al-Rushaid Fabricators Co. Ltd., the company’s fabrication yard in Dammam. Local fabrication supports Aramco’s localization objectives while contributing to the development of industrial capabilities within Saudi Arabia.

Strategic context and local impact
The new awards reinforce Saipem’s long-standing relationship with Aramco and its position as a key contractor for offshore and onshore energy infrastructure in the Kingdom. By executing fabrication work locally and deploying regionally based vessels, the projects align with Saudi Arabia’s broader goals of strengthening domestic industrial capacity and supply chains.

Broader implications
Pipeline installation, subsea intervention, and brownfield modification projects such as these are critical for maintaining and optimizing production from mature offshore fields. The contracts illustrate continued investment in offshore infrastructure to sustain output, enhance reliability, and extend asset life across Saudi Arabia’s offshore oil and gas portfolio.

Overall, the two CRPOs further consolidate Saipem’s presence in the Saudi offshore market and highlight the role of long-term framework agreements in enabling rapid execution of incremental offshore developments.
