TechnipFMC Wins Substantial Subsea Contract

TechnipFMC has been awarded a significant engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract by Eni S.p.A. for the Coral North floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) development offshore Mozambique. The agreement positions TechnipFMC as a key subsea services provider for one of the region’s most challenging deepwater gas projects, building on its proven track record in ultradeepwater FLNG developments.

Contract Scope and Strategic Importance
The contract covers the delivery of critical subsea infrastructure required for the Coral North FLNG field, located in approximately 2,000 meters of water. Under the terms of the award, TechnipFMC will manufacture and install flexible flowlines and risers, and undertake installation of subsea manifolds and umbilicals. These components form the backbone of the subsea production system, enabling the safe and efficient transfer of gas from subsea wells to the FLNG facility for processing and liquefaction offshore Mozambique.

For TechnipFMC, a “substantial” award is defined in the range of USD 250 million to USD 500 million, reflecting the scale and complexity of the EPCI scope. The contract was recorded in the company’s inbound order book during the second quarter of 2025.

Differentiation Through Deepwater Expertise
The Coral North award underscores TechnipFMC’s differentiated capabilities in executing subsea projects in deep and ultra-deep water environments. The company’s methodologies leverage lessons learned and technical approaches from prior engagements, notably the Coral South FLNG project — recognized as the world’s first FLNG development in ultradeep water. By applying a refined version of its proven project execution framework, TechnipFMC aims to deliver enhanced predictability and performance in subsea installation under challenging offshore conditions.

TechnipFMC’s integrated approach, which combines subsea engineering with on-site installation expertise, positions it competitively against peers in the subsea services market. This capability is particularly relevant in frontier deepwater developments where execution risks and technical requirements are elevated compared to shallow water or conventional offshore fields.

Project Contribution to Mozambique’s Energy Landscape
The Coral North FLNG project represents the second FLNG development in Mozambique’s offshore Area 4, following Coral South. The field is part of a broader initiative to commercialize significant natural gas resources in the Rovuma Basin and deliver LNG volumes to international markets. TechnipFMC’s subsea infrastructure will support field production tie-back and ensure long-term operational integrity of the subsea systems feeding the FLNG facility.

In summary, the Coral North subsea contract reinforces TechnipFMC’s position as a leading provider of EPCI solutions for complex offshore gas developments, leveraging deepwater execution experience to meet the technical demands of modern FLNG projects.
