Technip Energies Secures Major LNG Project for North Field West

Technip Energies has secured a major Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) contract from QatarEnergy for the North Field West (NFW) project. This award, valued at over €1 billion, distinguishes Technip Energies from its competitors through a strategy of "design replication" and a focus on ultra-low carbon intensity. By mirroring the engineering and delivery model of the ongoing North Field South project, the company offers a unique advantage in delivery predictability and industrial efficiency, reinforcing its leadership in large-scale, sustainable energy infrastructure.

Scaling Global LNG Supply through Technical Continuity
The North Field West project involves the delivery of two massive LNG "mega-trains," each capable of producing 8 million tons per annum (MTPA). This expansion is a critical component of Qatar’s strategy to nearly double its export capacity from 77 MTPA to 142 MTPA. A key differentiator for Technip Energies in this competitive landscape is the use of a replication model. By utilizing the same technical design as the North Field South project, the company minimizes engineering risks and optimizes the procurement cycle, ensuring a more streamlined execution compared to traditional bespoke energy projects.

Leadership in Low-Carbon Energy Infrastructure
Beyond simple capacity expansion, the project sets a new industry benchmark for environmental performance. The onshore facilities will integrate advanced carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) technology, designed to capture 1.1 MTPA of CO2. When combined with the North Field South development, the total sequestration capacity reaches 2.2 MTPA. This focus on decarbonization allows Technip Energies to lead in the "green LNG" space, where reducing carbon intensity is increasingly a primary requirement for global energy tenders.

Sustainable Integration and Resource Recovery
The differentiation strategy also extends to resource efficiency and renewable energy integration. The project scope includes jetty boil-off gas recovery systems to further lower emissions and facilities for extracting valuable sub-products such as helium, ethane, and liquefied petroleum gas. Furthermore, a significant portion of the facility's electrical demand will be met by solar power. These integrated features demonstrate a shift away from traditional fossil fuel extraction toward a more circular and technologically advanced energy model, positioning Technip Energies as a long-term strategic partner for nations pursuing both energy security and climate goals.
