Wood Wins Major Contract for Snorre Field Gas Integration Upgrades

Wood has expanded its position as a leading provider of engineering and offshore modification services with a new USD 27 million engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract from Equinor. The award reinforces Wood’s status as a preferred partner for complex brownfield upgrades in the Norwegian North Sea, particularly where integration, control systems and topside modifications converge.

Strategic Role in the Snorre–Gullfaks Gas Integration
The contract covers major topside modifications and advanced control system upgrades on the Gullfaks A platform. These upgrades will enable bidirectional gas flow between the Snorre and Gullfaks fields through a newly installed interconnecting pipeline. By supporting Equinor’s SNEIG project, Wood provides the critical infrastructure required to increase production flexibility and enhance the efficiency of gas handling across two of Norway’s long-standing offshore assets.

Technical Enhancements Supporting Long-Term Field Performance
Wood’s scope includes systems enabling gas import from Snorre, upgraded fiscal metering for precise measurement of gas movements, and seamless integration with existing production facilities. These improvements are designed to strengthen operational reliability, optimise resource utilisation and secure the long-term sustainability of field operations.

From FEED to Execution: Demonstrating Delivery Capability
The award follows Wood’s completion of the project’s front-end engineering design earlier in the year. Moving directly from FEED into execution demonstrates the company’s ability to provide continuity, reduce interface risk and deliver efficient pathways from design to operation—an advantage that differentiates Wood in a competitive offshore services landscape.

Established Presence and Local Delivery Capacity
Wood has supported Equinor’s Snorre A and Snorre B platforms with maintenance, repair and modification services since 2016. The new work will be executed primarily from Sandefjord, Norway, by a team of more than 70 employees, underscoring the company’s long-term local presence and its capacity to deliver specialised upgrades in mature offshore fields.

Why This Matters for the Future of North Sea Energy
This project highlights Wood’s role in enabling more flexible and integrated hydrocarbon production systems in the North Sea. By enhancing gas transfer capabilities and modernising measurement and control systems, the company supports both the operational ambitions of major operators and the broader goal of maintaining resilient and efficient energy infrastructure in Norway.
