bp has safely loaded the first LNG shipment from Mauritania and Senegal’s Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) Phase 1 project, marking its third major 2025 startup.
El Fayoum-5 was spudded on February 14, 2025, and encountered four prospective Messinian gas reservoirs, with a total sand thickness of 50 meters at a measured depth of approximately 2,900 meters.
Under the terms of the MoU, bp will collaborate with ONGC to jointly explore and evaluate potential business opportunities in oil and gas projects both within India and internationally.
The project features Indonesia’s first at-scale enhanced gas recovery through CCUS, aiming to sequester around 15 million tonnes of CO2 in its initial phase.
